Learn about Hempfield Kiva Club and How You Can Become a Part of its Power to Change Lives!
KIVA has a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty. Leveraging the internet and a worldwide network of microfinance institutions, Kiva enables individuals to lend as little as $25 to help create opportunity around the world. At Hempfield Kiva, we want to fund people in the US and around the world so they can have a chance at a better life through entrepreneurship.
Through Kiva.org, our team will be making microloans to people who pay back the loan over time, so that our team can lend those funds again and again.
Hempfield Kiva Club is a new club this year at Hempfield High School. Our first fundraising activity was caroling in Landisville over the holidays where we raised $270 singing holiday songs. Our team was met with kind, generous neighbors who sang along, shook jingle bells and offered cocoa.
Hempfield Kiva Club is advised by Mr. Terry Chmil, a world history teacher at Hempfield, and is inviting Hempfield High School students to join.
The club is developing other fundraisers to get students and the Hempfield community involved in our efforts. Visit us HempfieldKiva.org again soon to learn more and support our bake sales, car washes, and local races that will be scheduled throughout the year.
Local businesses can support us through sponsoring Hempfield Kiva Tees, where students will wear tee shirts featuring logos advertising local businesses.
Residents and entrepreneurs who want to support Hempfield Kiva can inquire about how they can contribute $25 for an hour of student volunteer time.
Consider becoming part of Hempfield Kiva to make changes for people driven to become entrepreneurs.
