We are so excited for Hempfield Kiva to be featured in the Hempfield Merchandiser and on TownLively.com.
Thank you to writer Dayna M. Reidenouer for taking the time to share our start-up story about Hempfield High School’s newest club with her audience in Lancaster County, PA.
Hempfield Kiva Club is a new club this year at Hempfield High School. As its first fundraising activity, the group caroled in Landisville over the holidays. The singers were met by neighbors who sang along, shook jingle bells, offered cocoa, and contributed a total of $270.
The proceeds from this and other fundraisers will be used to offer microloans to individuals around the world through an organization called Kiva. Founded in 2005, Kiva has lent over $800 million offered by nearly 1.4 million people at a repayment rate of 98 percent. According to http://www.kiva.org, the organization believes that providing safe, affordable access to capital enables people in need to create better lives for themselves. Read more at TownLively!
